THE BRIEF
The clients wanted to complete the landscaping around their new Kingston home with a safe, practical and attractive garden their young family could enjoy together.
The brief covered both the front and backyard, with a focus on creating a landscape that felt considered, natural and well connected to the home. The garden needed to be functional for everyday family life, safe for a young child, relatively easy to maintain and designed around the clients’ available budget.

The clients also wanted a distinctly Tasmanian feel, using local stone, native planting and raw materials that would suit the surrounding Kingston landscape.

THE CHALLENGE
The main challenge was delivering a complete front and backyard landscaping transformation while working within a defined budget.

The design needed to prioritise materials and construction methods that offered the best balance of visual impact, durability and value.

Careful decisions were made around retaining, access, planting and hardscape elements so the overall garden remained practical, cohesive and cost-conscious without compromising on the finished result.

OUR SOLUTION
Our landscape design focused on creating a simple, natural and family-friendly garden that complemented the new home and would continue to improve as the planting established over time.

Dolerite boulders became one of the defining materials throughout the project. A substantial boulder retaining wall was constructed to manage changes in level, while solid Dolerite steppers were used to create natural pathways and steps through the garden.
Tassie Gold gravel was used throughout the landscape as a practical and cost-effective surface that complemented the darker Dolerite stone and reinforced the natural Tasmanian aesthetic.

Custom Corten steel side gates provide secure access to the backyard while introducing another raw, durable material into the landscape. Their warm, weathered finish works naturally alongside the stone and gravel palette.

The planting focused on hardy Tasmanian native species selected to suit the local Kingston and Hobart climate while providing texture, movement and a softer contrast to the stonework.

The finished Kingston landscaping project created a safe, functional and welcoming family garden that complements the home and surrounding environment. By combining Dolerite boulders, Tassie Gold gravel, Corten steel and native planting, the landscape feels established, distinctly Tasmanian and well suited to the way the family uses the property.

TESTIMONIAL
"We hired Innerbloom to landscape our uninhabitable garden, and the results exceeded our expectations. From the beginning, they were incredibly responsive to our needs, taking into consideration our young child. They designed a safe, functional, and beautiful space that our family can enjoy together.

Innerbloom was also very mindful of our budget, working closely with us to ensure the project stayed within our financial limits while still delivering an amazing outcome.

We were also really impressed with their follow-up; months after the project was finished, they checked in to see how everything was going and offered helpful advice.

Their attention to detail, customer care, and dedication to creating a space that truly worked for our family was outstanding. We highly recommend Innerbloom for anyone looking to create a personalised, practical, and beautiful garden." - Client
