Baskerville - Large Retaining Wall

THE BRIEF
The clients wanted to stabilise a collapsing bank, improve drainage and access around the property, and eliminate ongoing mud issues.

The goal was to create a more functional and durable landscape solution that also complemented the new home and surrounding Baskerville environment.

THE CHALLENGE
Wet weather and muddy site conditions made excavation and access challenging, particularly with a substantial amount of earth needing to be moved to stabilise and reshape the bank.

Constructing the Dolerite boulder retaining wall also required careful selection and placement of each individual rock. Finding the right combination of boulders was key to creating a wall that was structurally sound while still looking natural and considered within the landscape.

OUR SOLUTION
A large Dolerite boulder retaining wall was constructed to stabilise the bank and create a strong, natural feature within the landscape.
Tassie Gold gravel pathways improved access and drainage around the property, while Poa grasses and low-growing ground covers softened the stonework and helped the finished landscape blend naturally into its surroundings.

Careful excavation and drainage works were completed alongside the retaining wall to ensure the area performed effectively through Hobart’s wetter conditions.
The finished Baskerville landscaping project is simple, functional and built to last, combining local stone, native planting and practical drainage to significantly improve the usability of the property.
